  2. The original order is not known but the order here follows Lewisohn, Mark, 2013, Tune In (p. 559) which itself seems to follow the order from 70s bootlegs sourced from tape copies. There are several known tapes including (but not limited to) Joe Pope’s tape from the 70s and Brian Epstein’s copy of half the session which appears to be unique according to Lewisohn. Another tape was found in 2025 in a Vancouver record store. It would appear that there’s evidence the last three tracks have been edited out from earlier in the session and grouped together at the end since they’re Lennon-McCartney originals ↩︎
  3. Lewisohn, Mark, 2013, Tune In (p. 562) states that “the fifteen tracks were recorded straight, in mono” and I’m inclined to believe this over Hammack, Jerry, 2017, TBRRM: Vol 1 (p. 20) who states they were recorded to twin-track. This is because I personally find it hard to believe 15 tracks were mixed from an audition and it seems much more likely they were recorded straight to mono since, as far as I’m aware, no twin-tracks have appeared on bootlegs. The mono tape machine in use at Decca would also have been the EMI BTR2 Hammack, Jerry, 2017, TBRRM: Vol 1 (p. 221) ↩︎
